Rolex bubbleback ref 2940 from 1942

I love vintage Rolex bubbleback as it has great characters. When Rolex launched the Bubbleback in 1933, it was one of the first fully functional automatic timepieces. The model’s thick auto-rotor prompted the brand to create a unique, protruding “bubbleback” case, which gives the watch its name.

This is a Rolex bubbleback Ref 2940 from the year 1942. Collecting vintage Rolex bubbleback is a fun hobby as it has a varieties of dials and  shape. In Hong Kong, they call this bubbleback in stainless steel  勞力士鋼棺財仔操兵數字面. When collecting Rolex Bubbleback, there are two key criteria namely, the dial will need to be original without reconditioning or repainting. Secondly, the movement must be in working order as it’s impossible to find the original spare parts.
