Vacheron & Constantin ref 6562 caliber 1071

This is a 35mm Vacheron & Constantin ref 6562 using cal. K 1071 automatic, 29 jewels in stainless steel case which I have missed out. There is that old saying that "simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" and this Vacheron Constantin Steel ref. 6562 embodies that saying perfectly.

The key points

- 35mm stainless steel case (rather than the more common yellow gold)

- Caliber K 1071 automatic movement, 29 jewels

- "No-date" dial layout, which is less common than the date-equipped variants

- Slightly stepped, straight lugs giving it a masculine yet elegant feel

- Simple, balanced sunburst satin dial with tapered applied markers

- Double-signed movement with an 18k gold rotor edge

The fact that this is a stainless steel dress watch from Vacheron Constantin during that era is quite uncommon and noteworthy. As you mentioned, the clean, uncluttered dial design with the lack of a date display allows for a very refined and sophisticated aesthetic.

The details of the movement being double-signed and featuring the 18k gold rotor edge are also impressive touches that speak to the high quality and craftsmanship Vacheron was putting into even their stainless steel models at the time.

Overall, this ref. 6562 in stainless steel with the K 1071 automatic movement seems to be a truly special and rare vintage Vacheron timepiece that exemplifies the brand's commitment to classic, elegant design and superior Swiss watchmaking.

The Vacheron Constantin calibers 1071 and 1072 are both self-winding mechanical movements, but there are some key differences between the two:

1. Movement size:
   - Caliber 1071 has a diameter of 26.2 mm.
   - Caliber 1072 has a slightly larger diameter of 27.0 mm.

2. Jewel count:
   - Caliber 1071 has 21 jewels.
   - Caliber 1072 has 22 jewels.

3. Power reserve:
   - Caliber 1071 has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours.
   - Caliber 1072 has a slightly longer power reserve of approximately 48 hours.

4. Frequency:
   - Caliber 1071 operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
   - Caliber 1072 operates at a slightly higher frequency of 30,000 vibrations per hour (4.2 Hz).

5. Complications:
   - Caliber 1071 is a time-only movement.
   - Caliber 1072 can include additional complications, such as a date display or moon phase indicator, depending on the specific watch model.

In summary, the Vacheron Constantin caliber 1072 is a slightly larger and more advanced movement compared to the 1071, with a higher jewel count, longer power reserve, and higher operating frequency. The 1072 also allows for the integration of additional complications, while the 1071 is a time-only movement.

From the Internet, there is another version of Ref 6562 with date using cal 1072
