This is one of the funkiest divers out there. From its huge case with giant domed crystal to its Simon Says style four color inner rotating bezel to its unique dial with gold accents. They packed it all into this one. It's fun to wear and gets a ton of comments.
The day is set using the 2:00 pusher. There are both English and Chinese language option has the abbreviated weekday followed by the weekday number. For example, Mon1, Tue2, Wed3 and so on. The second language is the same format only in Chinese The date is set with the 3:00 crown. The 4:00 crown rotates the inner dive time bezel
From the internet, there are a few theories. Firstly, the meaning of the numbers on the inner turning bezel 20M, 30 M, 35 M and 40 M in different colors had to do something with non-decompression times as always on divers.
The meaning of the markings are as follows:
20 M You can stay at 20 M depth during 45 to 60 minutes without decompression30 M You can stay at 30 M depth during 30 to 45 minutes
35 M You can stay at 35 M depth during 15 to 30 minutes
40 M You can stay at 40 M depth during 0 to 15 minutes.
Another theory basing on PADI's theory class will know that the further down you go under water, colours start to disappear around you. At first, the yellow colours go, then the green, followed by the pink, and blue.
1) You set the bezel to your desired dive time like you would any normal dive watch, albeit with fewer graduations on the bezel for accuracy of setting.
2) The purpose of the colors is to let you know if you're getting close to or are exceeding your planned depth.
The location of the 20m, 30m, 35m, and 40m printed on the bezel have nothing to do with timing at all and they and the colors are a crude dive depth indicator.
The watch is from the 1970s. Watch made pre1968 will says Waterproof rather than water resistant. Thee are many versions of the SK divers.
