Tudor Heritage Black Bay Harrods 79230G Special Edition

As per my earlier blog, I have placed an order for a Tudor Harrods edition. The wait usually is 9-12 months. In July, I have received an email confirming that my watch is ready for collection.

After a long arrangement and waiting, Finally, my watch has arrived ! Of all the Tudor, I think the Harrods edition is one of the best as it has an interesting connection with Harrods plus the design is superb! Given the escalating prices of the Rolex sports models, these are good substitutes! Naturally, in view of the processes and logistical support needed to acquire the Tudor Harrods edition, be prepared to pay premiums for it as there are long waiting time and much efforts needed…

Jaeger Lecoultre Memovox ref. E855 K825 (Gold & steel)

This is a Jaeger Lecoultre Memovox 855 K825 in Gold & stainless steel. Because of its 37 mm. diameter case, the model is also called Jumbo Memovox. The model is a fine water-resistant, center-seconds, gold and steel gentleman’s wristwatch with alarm, date and two crowns. The model comes with a two-body construction: a gold round case, the crown at 2 o'clock activates the central revolving alarm dial, the one at 4 o'clock is for time-setting and winding, downturned lugs, screwed-down steel ring on the case back, plain steel back engraved with case number and reference.

Watches made in the 1970s are slowly gaining popularity owing to its funky design, The Enicar Jump Hour Automatic was produced in the 1970s and features a digital readout on an automatic watch. This works by having three rotating discs, each tied to show either the hours, minutes, or seconds. The hour disc will jump forward on the hour and then the minutes and seconds roll by. This allows the users to quickly read out the time in a digital fashion by reading left to right. There are several brands of similar looking jump hour watches besides Enicar but there are many differences. Firstly, the Enicar one is better built using solid steel while many are using brass and plated. Secondly, the steel bracelet is solid and blend in nicely with The overall design.

Edox Geoscope GMT 1970s

THE FIRST GENUINE WORLD TIME WATCH

This year 1970 saw the introduction of the world’s first truly global timepiece, the “Geoscope” watch. Covering all time zones, the watch provided timekeeping for almost 50 different cities around the world, as well as local time. There are two sizes namely 42mm and 48mm. I have started to collect watches from the 70s era owing to its funky and unique design.

Kindly note that there are many fakes and replicas. From the various watch forum, these are the ways to tell:

1. One way to tell is that the genuine ones will have the wording EDOX  GEOSCOPE instead of EDOX SWISS. However, there are now replica watch with the EDOX  GEOSCOPE now! Beware!

2. One can look at the quality of the map (photo from the internet). Left is a replica where the map detail is not as sharp plus the markers have no orange markings.

The map looks like a reprinted versions stat lacked the details.

3. Examine the winding crowns. The genuine one is slightly curved and got deep engraved logo and fake one are flatter with laser etching engraved as below:

Titus Calypsomatic. This is often called the poor man’s submariner modeled similar to the Rolex 5508 in nice lacquered dual turning tropical. I have collected a few Titus Calypsomatic in the past but somehow, it was sold along the way. This is my 4th Titus Calypsomatic that I hope to keep..
